Mushrooms are very fragile, consume as quick as you can or store in a brown paper bag for up to 4 days. Do not wash them until you are about to cook them.
Here are some delicious recipes featuring white button mushrooms:
1. Garlic Butter Mushrooms
Ingredients:
- 1 pound white button mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden and tender.
- Season with salt and pepper, then sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
2. Stuffed Mushrooms
Ingredients:
- 1 pound white button mushrooms, stems removed
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (or fresh herbs)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine cream cheese, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper.
- Fill each mushroom cap with the cheese mixture.
- Place the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
3. Mushroom Risotto
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Arborio rice
- 1 pound white button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups vegetable broth (warmed)
- 1/2 cup white wine (optional)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until browned.
- Stir in the Arborio rice and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine (if using) and cook until absorbed.
- Gradually add the warm vegetable broth, one ladle at a time, stirring continuously until absorbed before adding more.
- Continue until the rice is creamy and al dente, about 18-20 minutes.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
4. Creamy Mushroom Soup
Ingredients:
- 1 pound white button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
